Cyclists allowed to ride on pavement

The police in one borough in London have said they will not prosecute bike riders who ride on the pavement.
Police in Camden say they will look at the reasons why some ride on the footpaths instead.
The West Midlands police have a similar policy.
It may well be a case where the cyclists feel safer to do what they do.
Thank God common sense is prevailing here because some roads are just not suited to cyclists.
I understand that pedestrians may feel a little threatened by cyclists who ride on the pavements but then again it comes down to understanding.

Good idea.
Cyclists would have to give pedestrians right of way of course.

As a kid I always rode on the pavement.
I was stopped once.
I think common sense should be used here.
There is a bridge here where I live that makes it almost impossible to ride a bike on safely.
Using the pavement is the only option and I suspect there will be situations like this everywhere.

I hope no little old lady is ever knocked off her feet through this move.

I rode a bike on the footpath all the time whenever I had a bike with no problems.

If cyclists keep out of my road they can do what they want.
