Car Servicing - Main Dealers or Third Party Garages?
Car Servicing - Main Dealers or Third Party Garages?
I have to take my car for its first year service soon and I have been quoted £177.00 for this.
I need to service it to keep the warranty in order.
Since I booked the service I have since found out that you don't really need to take the car to the dealership where you bought it from.
I was then quoted £100.00 from a third party.
My question is would it be wise to take it to the main dealer for a service or is it ok to take it to a competent third party garage who will stamp the service book.
Obviously the service record is needed when I come to sell the car in the future.
As you can see I can make a saving of around £77.00 and I still have time to cancel the service at the dealers and choose another garage.
Any input for this would be appreciated.
My car is from Hyundai.

I would always go to the car dealership where possible just to make sure.
You know what the small print is like but I am aware that its not necessarily a requirement now to do a service at the main dealers. I would still shop around but try and get a decent deal on servicing where I bought the car from.
You could try and ask the dealer if they will price match a rivals quote.

I always use the Servicing Stop website to get a quote for car servicing and mot's.
Just enter your cars details and post code and they will give you the cheapest quote for your area.
At the moment they have 50% off.
They even pick your car up and drop it off.
Click here for a quick and cheap car servicing quote.

I never go to the main dealers for servicing, mot or any spare parts.
They charge far too much.

Stay safe everyone!

Go for the cheapest quote!
As long as the warranty remains intact then there is no problem.
The law is quite simple about this - you do not have to service your new car at the main dealers!

Oh, I wouldn't go to the main dealers to service my car.
I much prefer my local garage where I get "mates rates"

Cheers everyone.
I have had the car serviced at the Hyundai main dealers
I asked them to match the £100.00 service that my local quoted.
They said they would not match that price as it was not a Hyundai dealership!
Anyway after a bit of negotiation I did manage to get a discount of 20%
That was £142.00 or at least it was supposed to be but when they done it I was charged only £132.00.
I don't know what happened there but maybe it was because I negotiated well

Remember that while the main dealers cost more for servicing, they will know the car inside out and will check it more thoroughly.

I would never dream of taking my car into the main dealership for servicing.
They charge an arm and a leg.
I shop around on the internet.
If my car was in warranty I still wouldn't.
Its only an oil change

For servicing I don't think I would use a main dealership.
