Last Land Rover Defender Rolls off the Line

Jaguar Land Rover in the West Midlands have made the very last Land Rover Defender.
The Defender was the most recognisable off-road car since the first one was made in 1948.
Many prominent people have owned a Defender including the Queen.
These Defender vehicles have served their time in armies across the world and they have appeared in quite a few films.

Many people are saying that it is the death of an icon.
With the laws becoming tighter on emissions and safety the company could no longer go on prodicing the car
The Land Rover Defender has a replacement model so lets wish it has as much success as the original.

This is a shame but we must move on.
The emphasis on emissions has become more prominent lately so it was inevitable.
You may have thought though that they could have modified the engine in some way.
A new engine perhaps.
I do hope the replacement becomes a similar icon.

Another British institution bites the dust!
I wish I could have had a Land Rover Defender but I never had the money for one.
I will never get the chance to own one now.
Not because I can't afford one its just that I don't need one nowadays and probably never will now.

Well it had to happen.
Time and tide wait for no man.
I am sure that Land Rover will make a suitable replacement for the Defender.

Its always sad to see the end of an icon.
Its heartening that Land Rover may have a better replacement.

I am surprised the Defender was in production for so long.
Emissions are the big thing in transport nowadays.

Their engines are not up to modern day standards?
They could have done something about that surely.
Maybe the Defender just was too long in the tooth.
